Join and drive

Open Racer on a display in your room. Launching it from the RCWeb app list brings your controller here automatically, or scan the viewer's QR code.

Enter a driver name, choose Retro pixels, Van Gogh or Blade Runner, then tap Start your engine. One driver has the wheel at a time. Other phones can watch and take the next turn.

  • Hold Left or Right to steer. Acceleration is automatic.
  • Hold Brake to slow down.
  • Tap Nitro for a short burst of speed. Start with three charges; each checkpoint replenishes one.
  • Tap Pause race to pause, then Resume race to continue.
  • Open Settings to change the visual style. Cruise and Arcade driving modes are chosen before a new race.
  • Sound and music start when you start or resume a race. Each of the five tracks has its own racing theme in three arrangements: Retro arcade-rock chiptune, Van Gogh piano/strings/flute, and Blade Runner electronic synths. Each piece has 32 distinct two-bar melodies, varied note lengths, rests, instrumental handoffs, breakdowns and builds; the main tune does not repeat during a normal race. Changing track or style switches the music too. Use Sound off to mute; the choice is remembered. Engine revs, braking, nitro and crash effects accompany every soundtrack.

Cruise at 360 km/h through sports cars, vans, buses, trucks and motorbikes travelling at different speeds. Traffic keeps safe gaps and stays in its lane. Groups occupy at most two lanes, with clear space between groups to change lanes and overtake. Wheels roll and the player car turns as you steer. Avoid traffic to build an overtaking streak and reach both checkpoints and the finish before time runs out.

A collision stops your car and pushes it into clear space beside traffic. The engine stalls briefly, then takes about five seconds to accelerate again. Nitro is unavailable during recovery. Cars remain solid throughout the penalty: you cannot drive on top of another vehicle.

Connection and names

Names are shared with other RCWeb apps, normalized and limited to 16 characters. Reloading this page keeps your driver session when browser session storage is available. If the connection drops, the viewer pauses after a short timeout. Reconnect and resume, or another driver can take over after your controls expire.

Use Back to apps to return to the app list in this tab and room. The viewer stays open. The Open the race display link opens a viewer if the room does not already have one.
