Fractal Control
A phone controller for Fractal. Open the display first, then scan its invitation or launch Fractal from the RCWeb app menu. Both screens must be in the same room.
The preview preserves the display's aspect ratio and shows the same region and colours. Touch an area to zoom into it; use Zoom out to widen the view and Reset view to return to the whole Mandelbrot set. Enter or Space zooms at the centre when the preview has keyboard focus.
Open Colour & options for six palettes, colour offset, band spacing, reversal, detail level, zoom step, animation speed and invitation visibility. Controls wait for rendering and display confirmation before accepting another zoom. Reset remains available during refinement.
Explore a destination offers twelve published Mandelbrot destinations in a scrollable two-column preview grid. Tap an image to start a smooth journey in steps of at most 2×, slowing down if the next image needs more time. The locally pre-rendered thumbnails use Classic colours; the display uses your selected palette. The Valley destinations appear last. A source link follows the selected destination. By default, after one minute without input the display tours these locations automatically, pauses for five seconds at each, then zooms out before visiting the next. Interacting with either app stops the tour after its current step; Reset cancels immediately.
Multiple phones can share the session. Rejoining or reconnecting restores the current view from the display. Back to apps opens the app menu in the same room and tab without moving the viewer.
Enable Animate palette under Colour & options for a smooth 20-second colour cycle, synchronized with the display. It works with WebGL or Canvas, including while zooming and during the automatic tour. Switch it off to return to the selected static colour offset.
Zoom in defaults to 3 seconds and Zoom out to 1 second, with independent options from 0.7 to 8 seconds. Destination journeys and the demo use the corresponding speed for each direction, slowing when the next image needs more time. Demo delay offers Off, 30 seconds, 1 minute, 2 minutes, 5 minutes or 10 minutes. Turning automatic demo off still allows manual destination journeys. Both preferences are saved in the viewer browser; previously saved zoom speeds are preserved as the Zoom in preference.
